Description

Mélanie Laurent is a multidisciplinary artist who has a double career as actress and director.

As an actress, she was directed by the best for example Jacques Audiard, Cédric Klapisch, Quentin Tarantino, Denis Villeneuve, and more recently by Angelina Jolie.

As a director, Mélanie enjoys most of all, working with actors and telling stories. Which made her want to direct her first feature film “Les Adoptés”, a drama starring Denis Ménochet and Marie Denarnaud.

In 2014, her second feature length production « Respire », was selected at La Semaine de la Critique in Cannes. It is an adaptation of the novel written by Anne-Sophie Brasme. The film tells the story of a friendship between two teenagers played by Lou de Laâge and Joséphine Japy.

Mélanie Laurent’s spontaneity and femininity convinced Chloé to choose her for the campaign launch of its new fragrance « Love Story ».

Mélanie is very concerned with ecological issues, one of the reasons that she co-directed « Demain » with Cyril Dion, a documentary which explains the ecological solutions which each country could adopt and shows how our society could look like tomorrow. « Demain » has been released in cinemas on December 2015 and won the César Award of the Best Documentary Film.
