Eric Maillet’s visual universe entices us into a vertiginous confrontation with the contemporary world: it is a story of close-ups, of blown-up images; it is as if he has to get as close as possible to the subject in order to better understand it. He likes to magnify his subjects as much as possible in order to attain the limits of the frame.
Eric Maillet transforms objects, bodies, and landscapes without touching them; he transforms them into something organic, metamorphosing them into a modernist surface. While the object appears in its very essence – with precision but without sophistication or special effects whatsoever – the subject is shaped into a silent, surreal, kinetic or fantastic landscape.
